January 1999 Archive

Houston... - Zifei 2:16pm CST, 1-31-99
We have a problem...check out the preview for Knuckles 27 at Ken Penders' page. I don't know about you, but this new artist, Chirs Allan is really..hmm..not that good. Add to add further pain, why do I see this guy sucking up to Julie-su? While you at it, also check out the other stuff Ken posted today:

Female Echidna In SA! - Zifei 1:17pm CST, 1-31-99
Yes, there is a female echidna character in Sonic Adventure. There might be more furry characters in this game, but I'm not sure. For all you worried Julie-su fans, don't worry, she's just there to give you information. I don't think the Sonic Team would try to develop this character any deeper.

New Artist. - WB 11:08pm CST, 1-30-99
I heard that the guy that does Gold Digger - a popular comic book - may do some Sonic the Hedgehog Pro Art or a story. More information will be arriving soon.

New Knuckles Character... - Zifei 11:06pm CST, 1-30-99
Is taken off, reason, we're under a NDA (none disclosure agreement). So we kinda broke it when we posted it (oops), we'll post it later this year...so until then...

Sonic Comic Sales '96-'98! - Zifei 2:21pm CST, 1-30-99
So how did the Sonic comic sale during the years from 1996 - 1998? This is from Ron's Sonic Mailing List: Sonic Sales. As you can see, Sonic faced a huge drop in sales during the year of 1998. So why is that? You ask. Well, the major reason is not because of Karl Bollors' poor writing, but because of Wal-mart. That's right, Wal-mart. They stopped selling comics, and this really hurt both Sonic and Knuckles' sales. But on a good note, Sonic is gaining momentum in the direct sales market. And with the upcoming Sonic Adventure, Sonic #75 and Sonic Underground, sales should start to rise again.

Knuckles 12 Issue Confirmed. - Ray email 2:16pm CST, 1-30-99
I just saw what MerlinPwr said [about the Knuckles 12 issues subscription down in one of the news article below] and he's telling the truth! I also received a renewal form and seen that the Knuckles comics ARE available in a 12 issue subscription!

Sonic In Comic Shop News! - Zifei 4:50pm CST, 1-29-99
According to Editor Freddy in Sonic #69, Comic Shop News will start running a Sonic and Knuckles strip for 14 weeks straight starting in May, the stories will be about Sonic and Knuckles waking up in each other's body. Ken Penders says:

The Comic Shop News story will not see print anywhere else for at least a year, as that was the deal we made with them in exchange for printing this story.

The problem is that the Comic Shop News comes in a package with other magazines that cost $10! So is there anyway to just get the story and nothing else? Again, here's what Ken has to say:

If 100 people send me $6 US in check or money order (US and Canada orders only) by February 20, I will order a bundle of each week's installment. I will only send the orders once the fourteen weeks are released, unless someone is really willing to pay the freight for weekly shipping. I will do foreign orders only if paid in US Funds and sufficient postage is paid for overseas shipping.

Make the checks or money orders payable to:
C&C Productions

Send to:
Ken Penders
C/o C&C Productions
109 South Ellicott Street
Williamsville, NY 14221

If I receive more than 100 orders, I will order accordingly, but the sooner the orders come in, the sooner I will know how many to order. If you really want this, don't wait until the last minute to order, send it now. The reason for this is once i commit to a certain number, that's it. Chances for me to get additonal copies after February 20 will be next to downright impossible.

Sonic Adventure Ad! - Zifei 4:38pm CST, 1-29-99
Yes, Archie Comic's Sonic the Hedgehog #69 has a real Sonic Adventure ad in it! It just says "coming soon" with that creepy green eyes we saw on the net just before the Sonic August 22 show. But I suppose this is the first American Dreamcast ad.

SatAM: The Third Season! - Rich email 4:33pm CST, 1-29-99
Don't get too exicted, this is just a fan project, but it might turn out good. It's a cartoon of the lost Sonic the Hedgehog 3rd season. It doesn't follow the plot aready set up by Ben Hurst, but it does follow the last episode of the SatAM "Doomsday". Click here to go check it out.

Contrasting Reports... - Zifei 4:29pm CST, 1-29-99
This is an follow-up to yesterdays news story about Knuckles 12 issue subscriptions. MerlinPwr emailed me and told me:

Zif, get this, I got a form in the mail to resubscribe for Knux and it had a TWELVE ISSUE option. I was overjoyed and sent it out. We'll see what happens... A while back too...

Well, Ken said Archie isn't planning on a 12 issue Knuckles subscription...so I don't know, maybe Ken's wrong, for MerlinPwr is a pretty reliable source.

Knuckles Subscriptions... - Zifei 4:02pm CST, 1-28-99
Any possibility for a 12 issue Knuckles the Echidna subscription from Archie Comics? Ken says:

At the moment, there are no plans for anything beyond a 6-issue subscription. Maybe if enough readers wrote in and demanded they wanted it, that would get the attention of the Powers-That-Be. (Increased sales also works.)

That's just too bad, oh well, time to renew another 6 issues...

Editorial Section Moving Here... - Zifei 5:57pm CST, 1-27-99

SA Sales Rise! - Zifei 6:49pm CST, 1-26-99
Just as we (and a bunch of other people) predicted, Sonic Adventure sales in Japan has started to rise again as Sega Rally 2 is getting ready for release and the Dreamcast shortage problems became a none issue. In the week of January 11 - January 17, Sonic Adventure sold 28,462 units and now sits at #6 in the game sales charts with 314,516 units sold in total.

The Lost Ones... - Zifei 5:35pm CST, 1-26-99
Almost nothing to do with Sonic, but for all you Ken Penders fans:

It's now official. This summer, Image Comics will release the premiere issue of THE LOST ONES. Page count and price are yet to be determined, but it will be in full color.

Well, good luck to Mr. Penders with that comic, but he better not drop the quality of Knuckles.

Sonic The Comic! - Zifei 5:30pm CST, 1-26-99
Samanfur from United Kingdom has posted scans of Fleetway's Sonic The Comic on the web, and will continue to post whole issue scans for us that can't get that comic if she have time. She just posted Sonic: Earth Attacks - Part Two from issue 147. Since she just started doing this, the whole issue of 147 isn't completely scanned yet, and there are some broken links on the main page. So, I posted the links to the scanned pages of Earth Attacks below. BTW, just to catch you up on what's going on, since this is part 2. Colonel Granite of the UK army has secretly gathered forces and invaded Mobius, while Sonic is trapped with no way to get back to Mobius on Earth (and no, this does not have anything to do with Sonic Adventure). This is where part 2 starts:

Page 7

The art here is pretty good, but the story's kinda..ehh..it's about the same as most of Boller's work, I'll say that. It's no Ken Penders, so don't get your hopes up. Samanfur might post more tonight. You can contact her by Mobius Forum.

A-Life FAQ... - Zifei 4:12pm CST, 1-26-99
Here's a A-life FAQ from Sonic Adventure. Only read it if you want to get spoiled.

The Chosen One... - Zifei 3:22pm CST, 1-26-99
When is this storyline going to be placed? Well, according to Ken Penders:

Right now, as it stands, The Chosen One story arc will probably be 36 through 38. I'm not etching that in stone just yet because of various scheduling changes that have occured lately.

Remember that Kent Tylor is working with Ken on this project. So it should be the big project of next year...

Sonic And Garfield Pack! - Zifei 3:16pm CST, 1-26-99
We first reported some times ago, but Sega PC just released the Sonic And Garfield Pack for Windows 95/98. This game CD will include Sonic and Knuckles Collection, Garfield - Caught in the Act, and Baku Baku - a puzzle game. The CD retails for only $29.99, that's about the same price as Sonic 3D Blast PC. Below is the official press release:

SAN FRANCISCO--Jan. 26, 1999--Sega(R) PC today released "Sonic and Garfield Pack(tm)," which brings speedy Sonic the Hedgehog(tm) and GARFIELD, the world's laziest cat, together to strut their stuff on one CD.

"Sonic and Garfield Pack" includes hit games from "Sonic and Knuckles Collection(tm)," "Garfield -- Caught in the Act(tm)" and a special bonus game -- "Baku Baku(tm)" -- which was named Computer Gaming World Magazine's 1997 "Classic/Puzzle Game of the Year."

"Sonic and Garfield Pack" gives gamers a total of more than 50 levels of exciting gameplay with well-known characters they love for the low price of $29.99.

More than half of the top selling software products last year were based on well-known characters and properties, according to PC Data. "Sonic and Garfield Pack" is another example of Sega PC's dedication to bringing fun gameplay and beloved character content to the mass market at a competitive price.

"Sonic and Garfield Pack" us comprised of four great games:

-- "Sonic the Hedgehog 3(tm)" and "Sonic and Knuckles(tm)" feature all the spin-dashing moves, catchy soundtracks and fast action that made them favorites among gamers of all skill levels.

-- "Garfield -- Caught in the Act," shows off GARFIELD's acting abilities in more than 20 zany movie sets. Gamers must help GARFIELD escape from his late-night television nightmare by defeating the evil Glitch, whom GARFIELD himself created when trying to fix his broken TV set.

-- "Baku Baku" is an addictive and award-winning column puzzle sensation that pits gamers against the computer or each other to stack up snacks as they fall so all the critters have access to their favorite munchies -- dogs won't chew through bananas to get to bones and rabbits won't gnaw through bones to get to carrots.

"Sonic and Garfield Pack" is available in stores now and operates on Windows 95(R) and 98(R) computers with minimum specifications of a 60 Mhz Intel Pentium(R), AMD K5(R) or Cyrix 6X86(R) processor, 16 MB of memory, SVGA with 256 colors and a Sound Blaster(R) compatible soundcard. "Sonic and Garfield Pack" will support 16-bit color and is compatible with a keyboard or any Windows 95 and 98 compatible game controller.

SA Goes For Award! - Zifei 6:14pm CST, 1-25-99
Sonic Adventure is one of 54 titles selected for the 3rd CESA Awards in Japan. The title will probably win hands down in its catagory, since the only other good 3D platformer I see on the game list is Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. The results of the CESA Awards will be revealed after the Tokyo Game Show 99 Spring, which will be in March.

Birthday Boy... - Zifei 3:04pm CST, 1-25-99
Or should I say echidna? Anyway, Knuckles is celebrating his 16th birthday in the Archie Comics Sonicverse's Knuckles #28. Ken posted the preview black and white cover for it on his page. The cover is drawn by...not Spaz...but Manny Galan! Click here to view. And from the look of it, Julie-su's in love. Click below for the other new cover art Ken posted.

Simplenet Problems... - Mr. T email 1:35pm CST, 1-24-99
This is about the effects and thoughts on the Sonic Simplenet crackdown, as said by JD Harding, webmaster of The Sonic Corner:

So far I've found that the following Sonic Simplenet sites, who had Sonic music on them, are missing:

Sonotropolis (sonotropolis.simplenet.com)
Which had original music by Razor, Arrow, and others.
Foxfire (foxfire.simplenet.com)
Which had all of the Sonic Arcade tracks, and others.
Planet Mobius (mobius.simplenet.com)
Which had an awesome collection of Sonic music.
Sonic Oasis (oasis.simplenet.com)
Which has the whole Sonic Boom soundtrack.
Knuxcom (knuxcom.simplenet.com)
Holding several Sonic mp3s.

Now, as I've looked around, Artail Productions (Team Artail) is the last and FINAL Sonic website that has Sonic music on it. Sonic R is gone, Sonic Arcade is gone, Sonic Boom is gone, and the Sonic R Remix music is gone too. If this continues and we lose Artail Productions (Team Artail), then we're screwed as far as Sonic music goes. I for one am angry that so much Sonic music has disappeared from the net. Simplenet has to stop this, as Sega has not voiced that their music cannot be distributed on the net. When I hear that Sega themselves, including the composers both agree that the music CANNOT be distributed on the net, then they should take down websites. Otherwise they should keep their paranoid hands off of the Sonic sites, and stick to what they SHOULD be doing, which is upgrading the servers and maintaining their dignity.

JD, as you can see, said some pretty strong words about Simplenet, and frankly, I can't agree with him more. We can only imagine what will happen if Simplenet gets Artail Productions.

AP Name Change! - Zifei 1:30pm CST, 1-24-99
Artail Productions, one of the major Sonic sites, have changes their name to Team Artail. With the rename, a new site design is also in the works.

Latest From Japan... - Zifei 11:55pm CST, 1-22-99
According to NGO, SoJ is showing a very weird Sonic Adventure commercial over there:

The latest Sonic Adventure TV ad features our hero declaring his love of adventure before leaping from a plane sans parachute only to come to an unfortunate end. But this is not the last of his troubles as he tumbles down a waterfall to meet an even worse fate at the hands & jaws of a waiting crocodile.

They also said that current Sonic Adventure sales are suppose to rise again as Dreamcast units become more available to the public and the release of Evolution RPG and the upcoming AAA title, Sega Rally 2.

Sonic Games For DC. - Zifei 4:00pm CST, 1-22-99
Someone asked me to list all the confirmed/rumored Sonic games for Dreamcast for him. I thought this would be a good time to tell all the fans about them so there wouldn't be any confusion.

Sonic Adventure
This game is confirmed and out in Japan. The US/European version would be better than the Asian version as SoA and SoE have already put a team to do the translation and fix all the bugs.

Sonic R 2
This game is unconfirmed but rumored a long time ago. It is very likely, for as of now, Traveler's Tales (the team that made 3D Blast and Sonic R) is very quiet about the games they're making for the Dreamcast.

Sonic/Knuckles RPG
The game is NOT confirmed. The Sonic Team is thinking of doing it after NiGHTS 2, but Yuji Naka said he wants to do something more original. So if SoJ doesn't make one, a SoE or SoA team such as Sega TI might pick it up. The past confirmation of Sonic RPG turned out to be Sonic Adventure.

Sonic Underground
Gamer's Republic magazine has said that SoA is planning to make a game based on the cartoon of Sonic Underground coming up this April. I really can't say anything about this because there is nothing to say except that...they're crazy!

Sonic the Fighters
Another rumored game. Though this is very unlikely, as StF was made for the Titan STV arcade board which was the counterpart for the Sega Saturn. So the game would look really bad graphically on the Dreamcast...

That's all the Sonic games (rumored/confirmed) that I have heard about. Any questions? Just email me from the email above.

Mecha Characters! - Zifei 4:27pm CST, 1-21-99
According to rumors, once you collect all of the 120 Sonic Emblems (kinda like the stars you collect when you enter the stage again in Super Mario 64) in Sonic Adventure, mecha characters will become available to play. Who are they and what they look like, we still don't know...

SA: US Version! - Zifei 3:26pm CST, 1-21-99
Here are some more details about the US version of Sonic Adventure from SegaX:

Details on the Western release of Sonic Adventure will include a full language translation (as you'd expect), along with improvement in graphics (can it be any better?), better music, and all bugs will be fixed!

Outside of that, there might still be a chance of more levels put in.

Sonic Adventure Music List! - WB 3:15pm CST, 1-21-99
Want to see the list of all the soundtrack names in Sonic Adventure? Head over to Koryan's Sonic Island and check it out! Koryan got this list from the SONIC ADVENTURE "Digi-Log Conversation" Original Sound Track, which, according to him cost 3200 Y (less than $17) and came out on January 20th, 1999. Koryan also said (I'm not sure I got this right, with my limited Japanese) that there are 2 CDs in the package and contains 69 themes. This CD package will have a chance of making over here to the US even before the arrival of Sonic Adventure the game, so watch out for the music importers.

Sonic Games Sales. - Zifei 3:57pm CST, 1-20-99
There are currently two new Sonic games in Japan right now, Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast and Sonic 3D: Flikies Island for Sega Saturn. Sonic Adventure has sold between 286,054 - 321,274 (I don't know which is true), and Sonic 3D: Flikies Island has sold less than 3,000 as there was no promotion for this game at all.

Knuckles #23 Release Date! - Zifei 12:01pm CST, 1-19-99
Knuckles issue #23 will be released in comics stores in America on February 3, 1999. Note that the cover price will now be $1.79.

Knuckles B-Day Moved! - T2 email 12:04pm CST, 1-19-99
Knuckles' birthday will not be celebrated in KTE #25. Ken Penders said:

Knuckles celebrates his birthday in issue #28, but don't tell him. It's a surprise.

Why at the end of the First Date storyline? Ken Penders said to me:

Boy, I wish I could remember that. The only thing I recall saying previously was that I planned to celebrate it in #25, but I changed that when the event fit in better with the FIRST DATE storyline.

(There was already too much stuff covered in #25 to include that as well)

SA And The Monitor... - Zifei 9:07pm CST, 1-15-99
You think Sonic Adventure already looks great, right? Well, listen to the man, Yuji Naka:

Be sure to try out the VGA box while you're at it. The product goes on sale in January and you'll be amazed at the improvement in image quality!

So, Sonic Adventure would look better on a monitor. This is great news, since when Sonic Adventure comes out here in the states, the VGA cable would also be released at the Dreamcast launch. I mean, everyone's got a SVGA or VGA monitor right...?

NiGHTS In SA! - Zifei 6:27pm CST, 1-15-99

Mega Sonic... - Zifei 5:49pm CST, 1-15-99
I haven't seen any confirmations of this "Mega" name, but it is certain that once you you beat the game with all the characters (including Super Sonic), the characters on the selection screen will become "mega" characters. Meaning that they'll be 4 times as fast and invincible.

SA Sales. - Zifei 3:31pm CST, 1-13-99
Sonic Adventure is well over 300,000 units sold by now. Just for the record though, it sold 182,090 units between December 28th to January 3, 1999. That places the game as the 7th best selling game in Japan. Soon the game will drop out of the top ten as there are only about 510,000 of Dreamcasts sold (reason: they can't make enough).

SA: American Version - Zifei 3:25pm CST, 1-13-99
As you may know by now, there are still some camera and collision problems in Sonic Adventure. So, the question has been asked if the US version of Sonic Adventure would be rid of these problems. The answer?

For Sonic Adventure, though we have not decided yet the final specification of the English version, basically it will be the straight translation except for fixing bugs which we are aware of.

Also, rumor has it that Sega of Japan will release a Sonic Adventure "International Version" after the US Sonic Adventure is done. Source: SegaNet.

Sonic Underground! - Justin email 6:38pm CST, 1-11-99
I heard from someone at Sega that the Bohbot Kids Network has picked up the Soinc Underground cartoon showing rights. As you know, BKN appears mostly on UPN Network. So, UPN it is. Keep in mind, this is a rumor as of now.

Comic Prices... - Zifei 6:32pm CST, 1-11-99
This is from Wizard Magazine:

Most mainstream comic readers don't follow Archie books. So Sonic the Hedgehog, based on the popular video game, was left largely to destructive young-uns who've never heard the term 'mylar snug'. Since so many copies got mutilated, a top-condition Sonic the Hedgehog #1 now runs - you ready for this? - $40 to $50! Issues #2-#3 run about $15 each, and the rst are easily $1-$2 over cover.

As you can see, the Sonic comic is getting more and more popular by the minute. Oh, and if you're wondering why I didn't put up any comic sales number for so long...it's because I haven't found a comic store that carries Diamond Previews in Memphis yet (I moved, remember?).

SA Music Remixes? - Ray email 3:37pm CST, 1-11-99
Some of the musics from Sonic Adventure that I have heard is remixes from another Sonic game (I've found two of them so far and both of them are remixes from the Genesis version of Sonic 3-D Blast!) The musics are from Twinkle Park (Panic Puppet Zone Act 1) and the Sky Act Stage (Green Grove Zone Act 1)!

Not all of the musics are remixes however! The Ice Cap and Speed Highway Zones are some examples of zones having their own original sound tracks!

Simplenet Not So Simple. - Mr. T email 9:25pm CST, 1-9-99
Simplenet is turning up the heat on some powerhouse Sonic sites, and that may mean trouble for a lot of people, especially those who have MP3's on their sites. Go to KnuxCom and you'll see what I mean.

Some of the Simplenet Sonic sites such as The Sonic Foundation have already taken down their MP3. This is not very good news for Sonic sites. Sonic HQ is currently thinking over if we should start carring the MP3s. But most likely we won't since it's pretty much against the law.

Little Update Next Week... - Zifei 6:57pm CST, 1-9-99
I'm heading into semi-finals next week, so I wouldn't be able to update much. But after the week is over, updates will return to normal.

Sega Is In Control! - WB 6:53pm CST, 1-9-99
Our WB asked Ken Penders, the writer for Knuckles, how far Sega of America extends its control over the contents in the comics published by Archie. Here's Ken's reply:

When I first started working on SONIC, my partner Mike and I would have to write a detailed outline for Sega to review before we went ahead and wrote a complete script on every story we submitted. While Karl and I still submit an outline for each issue these days, more often than not it's after the fact and for Sega's benefit so they have the reader's digest version allowing them to follow along. With some exceptions, there's little editorial interference, and certainly nothing like the old days. On KNUCKLES, I have virtually free rein. The last major change I can recall Sega requesting occured during the Lost Paradise storyline, when they wanted me to eliminate any references to Nazi Germany, no matter how allegorical they were presented. Fast forward to the current Dark Alliance storyline, chock full of Nazi references and symbolism.

As for SONIC, because he is the company mascot, that's what Sega pays more attention to, and is more quickly to pounce on Justin for if they're unhappy with something.

And Ken said "no" when asked "has the Archie crew ever met Bernie Stolar: the head of Sega Of America?"

Raising Chaos. - Zifei 6:48pm CST, 1-9-99
No, I'm talking about the Chaos creatures from Sonic Adventure, not chaos as in out of order. Sega2000 has put up a guide to how you could raise those cute little creatures from Sonic Adventure in the VMS game. From the sound of it, it's actually a very fun game. Click here for the article.

What If...? - Ray email 6:42pm CST, 1-9-99
I asked Ken Penders "what if SegaSonic the Hedgehog Arcade had of been released here? Would it of effected the comics?" And Ken told me that if SegaSonic Arcade had of come out (in the USA), Mighty and Ray could of been Freedom Fighters or their own duo running into the Freedom Fighters from time to time! But since it didn't, the comics are the way they are now. Darn it!

Are You Kidding Me!?! - Zifei 6:39pm CST, 1-9-99
Next Generation Magazine put up a top 50 games of all time list in their current issue, and guess what? They had Sonic as 42! That's just a bunch of BS. Sonic at least should be in the top 15 if not the top 10. It was a game series that redefined and created platform, adventure, speed, great graphics, great music, and great game control. Let's all hope some other magazine such as Gamers' Republic will make a better list...

Sonic Reviews For Today... - Zifei 3:36pm CST, 1-8-99

Big The Cat Media. - Zifei 6:18pm CST, 1-7-99
SegaNet has put up some Big the Cat media from Sonic Adventure, not very exciting for the time it takes, but still interesting. Click here to go to the story with the images and movies.

SegaSonic.Net has put up a real video file of "Sonic Christmas Special" aired before on USA Network. If you never seen it, click here to download. SegaSonic.Net promises more real videos of AoStH (or whatever besides the SatAM related stuff) in the future. This file is 12MB in size.

SA Makes Top 10! - Zifei 3:29pm CST, 1-7-99
Sonic Adventure debuted as the #6 best selling game in Japan. This information is pretty misleading, though. The weekly chart sales was taken from December 21-27. Sonic Adventure was released on the 23rd. So by next week, we should be seeing Sonic in the top 3 (there isn't enough Dreamcast out for it to break 1 million yet).

One More SA Review! - Zifei 3:22pm CST, 1-7-99
This time, it's from Next Generation Online. They said the game have its flaws, but if SoA can get it right, it should be a darn good N. American launch title. Click here to read the review and view some pictures.

Sonic At Wal-mart! - Zifei 3:08pm CST, 1-6-99
I think they sold Sonic tapes there before, but, now they're doing it again!

My local Walmart recently got a shipment of discontinued Disney-distributed tapes that are selling for $2.50. The shipment my store got was mostly "Dinosaurs", Alvin & the Chipmunks and *tons* of AoStH, but there were a few copies of "Sonic Racer" and "Super Sonic" mixed in. So people still looking for SatAM Sonic tapes may want to check their Walmart.

So head on down to Wal-mart and check out their video section if you don't have the full collection of Sonic SatAM cartoons.

E102 "Gamma" Media! - Zifei 3:08pm CST, 1-6-99
SegaNet has put up more Sonic Adventure media. This time it's for E-102 "Gamma", the killer robot turned good. The videos are pretty good, but not that good in quality. But still a blast to view. Click here to view.

Sonic Underground Pics... - Vector 4:10pm CST, 1-5-99
The Sonic Zone put up several scanned pictures of Sonic Underground from Gamers' Republic. From the look of things, the animation might be decent. Now the voice might be a problem...I mean, Jaleel White is suppose to do the voices of Sonic, and his sister and brother. But check out the images! Note, images 2 shows the bad guys.

Walkthrough For E-102. - Zifei 3:39pm CST, 1-5-99
Again, if you don't want to be spoiled about Sonic Adventure, don't read this. I read it already, but hey! I don't like to be surprised! Anyway, here is a walkthrough for E-102 "Gamma" in Sonic Adventure provided by SegaX.

Another SA Review... - Zifei 3:37pm CST, 1-5-99

SSS#8 Delayed? - Zifei 4:43pm CST, 1-4-99
Super Sonic Special #8 should be out next week, but I don't see it on the release list. I didn't see it on the release list on December 31...what happened to it? Moved to January 27th? Could be, I'll keep you informed.

Knuckles Multimedia. - Zifei 3:30pm CST, 1-4-99
SegaNet put up a truck load of Knuckles media from Sonic Adventure. Even though their server is a bit slow (ok, really slow at times even for a 56.6 modem), the videos are worth the download time! Click here to check them out.

HQ To Hold Sonic RPG! - Zifei 10:37pm CST, 1-1-99
The fan game, not the official Sonic RPG. But still, if you have played the game, you'll know that it's pretty fun. Mettle, the creator of Sonic RPG, and the Sonic HQ management decided that it is in the interest for both parties that Sonic HQ homes Sonic RPG. A section for the game will go up soon. The page will be operated by Knux Lee. Meanwhile, goto the official Sonic RPG page and see what it is about.

Knuckles #25 Cover! - Zifei 4:39pm CST, 1-1-99
Probably the most anticipated Sonic/Knuckles related cover in a long time. It's finally here. Presenting the Knuckles #25 cover! Note that this is the preview version, so nothing is final yet. But it does look awsome. Now let's start wondering about the Sonic 75 cover.

Archie Moving Toward SA? - Zifei 4:29pm CST, 1-1-99
Check out the cover for Sonic #71, do you see what I see? The mirror image of the regular Archie Sonic is the Sonic design from Sonic Adventure. From the green eyes to the yellow shoe buckles. Well, this will probably tick off a few fans, but if Archie is really trying to change the design of Sonic to fit with Sega's new design, I'm all for it.

The NA DC Marketing Starts... - Zifei 4:17pm CST, 1-1-99
With Archie Comics? Well, looking at the background of the Sonic Checklist in Sonic #68...yeah. Now look at the cover of Super Sonic Special #9. See that Rotor is playing Sonic Adventure on a Dreamcast and the Dreamcast symble in the background? Good start for Sega of America, now let's see some great commercials!

One More SA Review... - Zifei 4:15pm CST, 1-1-99
Yeah, they just keep on coming. Here's another Sonic Adventure review from Dimension-S.

Perfect Chaos... - Zifei 4:10pm CST, 1-1-99

Price Raise! - Zifei 3:55pm CST, 1-1-99
Looking at Diamond Previews and preview covers, it looks like that starting with Knuckles #25 and Super Sonic Special #9, the cover price will be raised to $1.79 for Sonic and Knuckles regular issues and $2.29 for super specials. This is done by Archie to align themselves with current comic prices, which are sky rocketing.

Another SA Review! - Vector 1:00pm CST, 1-1-99
More and more people are reviewing Sonic Adventure! Click here for another one. There isn't much new in the article, except that there will be a pinball stage, and that the sound effects will be "traditional" for things such as picking up coins and jumping. Expect a load of Sonic reviews next Monday as IGN sites and Game Online come back from vacation.

HQ Exclusive Interview! - WB 1:19am CST, 1-1-99
This time, we interview the webmaster of The Sonic Foundation, Kedzie K.! WB did the interview. Since it is his first interview, it wasn't exactly well planned. But it's still a good read! Click here to read the interview. Also, our next interview will be with neither Green Gibbon, Edan Koch, or Ben Hurst. It all depends on who (WB or Vector) gets the interview in first...

The Verdict Is Out! - Zifei 1:05am CST, 1-1-99
And Sonic Adventure is "damn" good! Videogames.com, called by some the most biased anti-Sega site. The same site that gave Virtua Fighter 3tb, the best fighter game to date, a 7.1. But even they said Sonic Adventure set new standards in the gaming industry in their import review! And they gave the game a 9.3! Along with the review are movies and hundreds of screen shots! Click here to go to their Sonic Adventure sub-page.

Sonic Team's Future Projects - Zifei 12:09am CST, 1-1-99
After finishing the flagship Dreamcast game, Sonic Adventure, the Sonic Team has already started making NiGHTS 2. Now the true question is: what's after NiGHTS 2? Three games come to mind, one is Burning Rangers 2, another is a completely original game, and finally, there is Sonic RPG. Yes, possibly Sonic RPG will be the first to go, since a while ago, a magazine did report that the Sonic Team planned another Sonic game after Sonic Adventure...hmm...

Sonic Adventure Media. - Zifei 12:06am CST, 1-1-99
SegaX has more movies of Sonic Adventure up on their site. This time, it's of Amy and Knuckles! Click below to download the movies:
