  • No 3D Sonic at E3? Six brand new Sega games anounced, Sonic Heroes continues to sell….

    No Sonic at E3?

As the title clearly states, Sega will be presenting six brand new, currently unknown games at this years E3. It has been confirmed from the top business eggheads at Sega that a new Sonic game will not be among them. Quite a change from last years “Sonic Year” proclamation from Sega. It is rumored that at least some of these games will be the first Sega games to come to the upcoming PSP and Nintendo DS handhelds, but this has not been confirmed. “You’ll have to wait and see.” said the spokesperson. So, in other words, we’ll have more info from Sega when E3 starts.

Sega has confirmed, however, that they will be showing no Sammy games at E3. “There are currently no plans for Sammy Japan titles at E3,” said the spokesperson. “It’s mainly an SOE and SOA show. Sega Japan is distributing for Sammy, and at the moment we’re only distributing for Sammy in Europe.”

The lack of a 3D Sonic game is most certainly not because of poor sales on Sonic Heroes part, however. The game has managed to move 400,000 units in it’s first two months on all three platforms in the United States, and the game has retained itself in the top four in the UK since it’s launch on January 27th. This definetly equals a lot of incoming income on Sega’s part.

We will have more info when DcD goes to E3, which starts next month.

Looks like we may not be seeing a new 3D Sonic game this year. Oh well, at least we’re getting Sonic Advance 3, eh?
