Sonic Forces Review - (Some Spoilers)

Sonic Forces makes a big gamble. What if Sonic were out of the picture for a lengthy amount of time? What would happen? The resistance is born with Knuckles at the helm and is stretched thin trying to defend from Eggman. Enter YOU! Can you help restore the world from Eggman’s clutches?

Sonic Boom Season 2 Finale Review

Sonic Boom season 2 will be coming to a close this weekend with the season finale called, “Eggman: The Video Game” and it will be a two-part episode series aired back to back.

I’ve seen and it doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it’ll make you wish why the rest of the series wasn’t more like it.

The general plot: Eggman is tired of getting the short straw so in order to boost his reputation, creating a video game starring himself seems like a good idea. But he needs a little help as he doesn’t really have the best hand to hand combat skills. Enter Shadow and trouble ensues. Maybe even the end of the universe!

Expect nonstop action, Shadow, and even another familiar face will be returning. I don’t want to spoil it though.

Both episodes air this Saturday at 6PM ET (and then 6:15) on Boomerang.

Sonic rewards available on My Nintendo

Celebrating the imminent launch of Sonic Forces, various Sonic items have launched on Nintendo's rewards program, My Nintendo. Along with 50%-off discounts for various Sonic games on 3DS and Wii U (including the excellent 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2), three other rewards of note are included:

The 3DS theme in particular is only available until the 16th, so grab it while you can!

Eurogamer Interviews Nakamura

Eurogamer has conducted an interview with Nakamura on Forces, Mania, and the Future of Sonic. We’ve summarized a few key points but there is much more in the full article at the link below.

  • He's not surprised by Mania's success because he knows "people like 2D games because they're easy to get in to".
  • It was interesting to see Mania get the reception it got.
  • "From the team's perspective, we're still going to be making 3D games for the audience that likes that style of Sonic - when we see the reactions that Mania got, the entire team sat down and thought it was really interesting, and we should break down what people liked about Mania, and in the future - when we build our 3D games - see what essence we can take from Sonic Mania and put into a 3D world, to give people what they're looking for and that they've found in Sonic Mania."
  • Forces started many years before Mania.
  • Iizuka was the only one from Sonic Team really involved in Mania. However, he was feeding back to Sonic Team telling them to include things from Mania in Forces (like the Drop Dash, I guess?).
  • The Avatar is aimed at engaging kids, and Forces as a whole is targeted at the modern/younger audience.
  • "From a reverse standpoint, we wanted to reintroduce classic Sonic to fans of the modern games - and maybe bring our group of very divided fans together."
  • Shadow is there in the story and playable  in Forces to appeal to the Adventure fans.

Welcome to Sonic HQ Version 8

The site might look a little different to you today. This is because we thought it might be time to give it a massive UI overhaul. As you can see it gets a lot of cues from Sonic Mania.

You can toggle the comics listing on the main page by clicking the 2 column icon in the top blue bar. (Looks like this)

The comics section now allows for the future offerings from IDW. Placeholders for now. The Sonic Forces comic will also now appear there as well under "Other"

We also now officially have a new forum! Sonic Blast! This replaces the half baked forum that was here before. (The one at sonichq.net/forum). The old school Mobius Forum, still exists however. It was recently moved from Yuku to Tapatalk but there's very little activity there. (Or Ezboard -> Yuku -> Tapatalk if you haven't been keeping track.)

There may still be some bugs. They will get squashed.

Sega releases Sonic Forces comic as prelude to the game

Looks like we are getting a Sonic Forces comic after what seemed like a joke at the town hall earlier this week. Starting today, we'll be getting a 4 part digital comic series leading up to the release of Sonic Forces. Ian Flynn is also writing it! It's also free!

Today, SEGA® released the first chapter of a new Sonic the Hedgehog™ digital comic series that is based on the highly-anticipated video game, Sonic Forces™. The four-part comic series is scripted by fan-favorite writer, Ian Flynn, and serves as a prequel to the video game counterpart. Chapter 1 titled “Moment of Truth” features Sonic Forces’ Custom Hero Character and the Chaotix as they prepare for battle against Dr. Eggman’s sinister robot army.

Chapter 2 should be released later this month.

A look at Sonic 3D Blast's built in level editor

When you don't like the tools that's there, what do you do?

Build your own!

As revealed by GameHut on YouTube, Director of Traveller's Tales for 29 years, we're treated to how levels were contrued using the game's built in editor.

It's likely you're only able to use this in a beta version of the game.
